Welcome to the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art!
Our goal is to help visitors to the Museum or to our website become excited about the world through the unique perspective of the visual arts.
Founded in 1905 as the Cedar Rapids Art Association, this Museum has a distinguished history that includes giving artists such as Grant Wood and Marvin Cone their first museum exhibitions. Our commitment to living artists is a hallmark of the Museum’s history.
There are always many things to do and see at the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art. You can visit 16 exhibition galleries in which we usually offer up to six different exhibitions at any one time. After gallery hopping, be sure to visit our fabulous Museum Store, offering books and educational items, along with original crafts and works of art by dozens of local artists.
The Museum also owns the historic Grant Wood Studio, known as 5 Turner Alley, where Wood lived and created most of his famous paintings—including American Gothic in 1930. Located only three blocks away from the Museum, the Studio is a loft designed and built by Wood himself. Guided tours of the Studio—provided several days each week—let you travel back some 80 years in time to see the world as Grant Wood saw it.
As part of our commitment to education, the CRMA offers free general admission to all visitors 18 years of age and under every day. And on Thursday evenings from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. we offer free general admission for all visitors!
Whether you are visiting us physically or virtually, I hope you have a wonderful time exploring. And please let us know how we are doing by dropping us an email at info@crma.org.
